William Joseph Tyma, 75, passed away March 10, 2001 at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Born April 16, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Emily (Kramer) Tyma.
    William was a graduate of Downers Grove High School, class of 1943. He married Phyllis Plant December 8, 1945 in Downers Grove, Illinois. He was a Lather for Building Trades from 1946-1988. He was in the Carpenters Union 74A in Chicago. William lived in Dekalb, Illinois for last 10 years, prior to that he lived in Shabbona and Aurora, IL. Served as a Radar man 2nd class US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
    He is survived by his wife Phyllis Tyma; three sons James (Donna) Tyma, Plant City, Florida, Thomas (Janice) Tyma, Joliet, IL; Robert (Lana) Tyma, Virden, IL; one daughter Sharon (Mike) Meyer, Big Rock, IL.; 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
    Preceded in death by his parents; six brothers Edward, Robert, Calvin, Charles, John and Lloyd; one sister Shirley Wolkotte.
    Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak Street, Dekalb, IL. with the Rev. David S. Bilyeu of the First Baptist Church of Dekalb. Interment to Johnson Grove Cemetery, Shabbona, IL. Visitation Monday March 12, 2001 from 6-8 P.M. in the funeral home.
    Memorial may be made to the Wedderburn Scholarship Fund.This man always had a warm smile,a loving touch, and a gentile word for everyone he ever met. His love for his wife and children was as bright as the sun. Bill was a tragic loss, but the angels now have another protector among them. What a great guy he was. He will be deeply missed. Being a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II, he never forgot his shipmates, and cherished his country more than anyone I know. Rest easy Shipmate,Your watch is relieved.
