Bernice E. (Wilson) Strauch, 100, Lincoln, passed away Monday (2/12/07). Bernice, loving wife of Raymond, mother of Gene and mother-in-law of Barbara Lautzenheiser, was born Oct. 4, 1906, in Walton.
She graduated from Walton High School and attended one year of college. She was employed for many years at Star Van and Storage Co. and as a bookkeeper for Reddish Bros. in Lincoln until she retired at age 76. Bernice was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and after retirement participated in volunteer work. She loved to bake and cook and was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker football team. Bernice celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 4, 2006, at a dinner party with family and friends.
Survivors: daughter-in-law, Barbara Lautzenheiser, South Glastonbury, Conn.; friend, Verna Lautzenheiser, Lincoln; friend and caregiver, Charlene Lautzenheiser, Lincoln; nieces; nephews; loving caregivers, Thelma Finney, Mercedes Crawford, Barbara Griffeth and Phylis Vasta.
Preceded in death by husband, Raymond; son, Gene; brothers and sisters; loving friends, Eugene "Roy" Gerner and Fred E. Lautzenheiser.
Services 3 p.m. Monday, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Park.
Visitation: Noon-8 p.m. Sunday, funeral home.
