WILLIAM EARL MILES, 80, of St. Francis, died at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 19 at Spring View Hospital. Mr. Miles operated a general store in St. Francis for many years. He was a native of St. Francis and a son of the late Joseph Lavell and Sarah Ellen Alvey Miles. His wife, Mary Mabel Mattingly, and three sons, Woodrow, Eric and Tim Miles, also preceded him in death. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Lester Ray "Martha Nell" Dant of Lebanon and Mrs. Ron "Doris Ann" Phenis of Atlanta, Ga; seven sons, J. E. of Lebanon; Alo of Ansley, Miss.; Tommy, Joe, Stanley and Ronnie of Louisville; and Ardine Miles of Mt. Washington; one sister, Miss Marie Miles of Loretto; three brothers, Walter and Webb of Loretto; and Ardine Miles of Louisville; 41 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. David W. Denneler, celebrant, and Rev. Bertrand J. Brian, con-celebrant, officiated. Pallbearers were Terry Dant, David, Woody, Billy, Bobby and Ricky Miles. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of the arrangements.
