This cemetery has been known in the past as "The Old Floyd Cemetery".
Stephen's parents are likely William and Elizabeth Bell Floyd.
Stephen and his brothers Hickman and Thomas Floyd are not named in their fathers 1826 Granville County, North Carolina will or probate. Perhaps because they were no longer in the area their parents parents were living in at the time.

Thomas Floyd is listed as the head of household in the 1790 Surry County NC Census with 2 adult males (himself and his brother Stephen?), 1 adult female, 1 male under 10 and 2 females under 10.

Stephen Floyd married Margaret (Mahala) Hart about 1796, likely in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Mahala was the oldest known daughter of Peter and Dority Hart from Old Montgomery, now Grayson County Virginia.
Stephen and Margaret Floyd are listed with two young daughters in the 1800 Wilkes County, North Carolina census. By 1810, Stephen and Margaret had moved across the county line into Ashe County just two houses away from Joseph Calwell, whom Stephen Floyd purchased 100 acres of land from on April 14, 1812. Their children are;
1, Unknown daughter born before 1800, died before 1810.
2, Nancy Floyd, born about 1799, married her cousin John Hart, likely in Ashe County NC.
Note; three of their sons, Riley, Joseph and Andrew Hart all served for the South in the Civil War, were captured together and all died within a month of each other at Fort Delaware.
3, William M Floyd, born February 04, 1801, married his First Cousin, Nancy Hart, D/O William Hart and Mary Caldwell.
4, Joseph Floyd, born 1805, married Elizabeth "Eliza" Dowis about 1827 in NC.
5, Elizabeth Floyd, born 1810, Ashe County NC, married Elijah Barton from Virginia on October 30, 1833 in Knox County Kentucky.

In 1827, Stephen and Margaret sold 50 acres of land in Ashe County to Hickman Floyd that may have been Stephen's brother.
A Hickman Valentine Floyd # 85229440, 1801 Washington County, Virginia to 1878, Greenup County, Kentucky might be the same person. He appears to be a son of Stephen's brother Thomas Floyd.
Soon afterward they walked to Meadow Creek, Whitley County Kentucky near Margaret's brother John Hart and his very large family.

Regarding reference to Hickman (Valentine) Floyd - there was another, older, Hickman Floyd, born in North Carolina (possibly Granville NC) who relocated to Ashe County NC sometime between 1810-1820. This older Hickman Floyd married Selea Hayes 27 Dec 1799 in Granville NC, and based upon census records, it appears they had no issue. This Hickman Floyd died in Ashe County in May 1833. It is likely that this Hickman Floyd, was a brother to Stephen Floyd of this FG record, and probably a direct relation to the referenced Hickman Valentine Floyd that died in Greenup KY in 1878.
