She was born on October 17, 1912 in Bigelow, Arkansas the oldest of 9 children to parents Wes and Gola Francis.
Freeda is survived by a daughter, Janet Acrey of Hemphill, son Jerry Batson of Hemphill, two sisters, Juanita Powell of Bald Knob, Arkansas and Ilene Wendell of Conway, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Lyle Batson and a son Jimmy Batson of Hemphill.
Grandchildren Jonathan Acrey of Houston Texas, Connie Ross of LaPorte Texas, Christie Batson of Eatson, Washinton, Melissa Hendry of Deerpark, Texas, Jeff Batson of La Porte Texas, Robin Mathias of Hemphill, RJ Serna of Austin, Texas, Freddy Serna of Shreveport, Louisiana, Michelle Stevens of Sugarland, Texas. Freeda also had several great grandchildren, Stephen Ross and Brian Ross of La Port Texas, Nikki Stevens of Sugar Land, Lindsay Mathias of Hemphill, Lucas Mathias of Hemphill, Jana Macias of La Porte, Texas, Josh Ainsworth of Deerpark, Texas, Leah Hendry of Deer Park, Texas. Justin Batson, Austin Batson of La Porte, Texas, Tyler and Vanessa Serna of Austin, Texas. Freeda also had 3 great, great grandchildren, Madelyne Ross, Abigail and Aiden Macias.
Freeda was active in the Hemphill Garden Club and the Grandmothers Club. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Hemphill for many years. She will be remembered for her style and grace, her sense of humor, her jokes, and her unfailing love for her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
