Son of Jehu and Jane Bucher Clinkscales Orr. Christopher married Martha McCann on May 2, 1820 in Anderson County, SC. Christopher and Martha moved to Pontotoc County, Mississippi in 1844.

Christopher was a successful merchant, who devoted his means liberally to the education of his children.
