The Passing of Mrs. Morgan
Mrs. Jane Elizabeth, beloved wife of J. A. Morgan, died at the family home in Columbia last Friday night, after an illness which extended over a year. Deceased was afflicted with chronic valvular disease of the heart which was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Morgan was a native of this county, born in Columbia, and was 57 years, 10 months and 30 days old when death occurrecd. She was a daughter of pioneer parents. After her marriage and until recent years she lived on a ranch above Columbia with her husband and was well known and highly esteemed throughout that section by the people for her admirable qualities of mind and heart. A few years ago the ranch property was disposed of and the couple took up their residence in Columbia, where shortly afterward Mrs. Morgan's health failed her and her condition became such as to cause her family and friends the deepest anxiety.
Surviving her are her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Sid Albers of Sonora and Mrs. Kate M. Bone of Stockton, four brothers, Grant and Alex Allen, who conduct a farm on Five Mile Creek, and William and James, who live outside the county, two sisters, Miss Grace Allen, who resides with her two brothers on Five Mile Creek farm, and Mrs. Cassinelli of near La Grange. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of the people in their affliction.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of Undertaker Burden from the family home and iterment was in the Columbia public cemetery. Rev. Jno. W. Edgell conducted the services. A vast concourse of friends attended the funeral. Owen Doyle, Mitt Ellis, Frank Dondero, Frank Schoettgen, A.C. Nelson and Henry Keefe were the pall-bearers.
