Dies Suddenly
Thomas E. Brubaker, 64, of 2930 Spruce Ave., retired chief clerk of the Pennsylvania Railroad district freight office here, died un expectedly at 12.10 p.m. yesterday in Mercy Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital last Thursday but had been ill for some time.
He was born in Altoona Oct. 20, 1895, a son of William E. and Carrie (Cunningham) Brubaker, and entered the service of the railroad company on Oct. 14, 1912, as a messenger in the telegraph office, later became a clerk and traffic inspector. He was promoted to the position of chief clerk Sept. 1, 1953, from that of chief statistician in the freight office. His subsequent retirement was forced by ill health.
Mr. Brubaker was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Sunday School, serving as a teacher in the Sunday School for a number of years. He was also active in the civilian defense organization in the 12th ward area.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel McFarland; four children, William of Baltimore, Melvin R. and Mrs. Mary Ellen Jones of the city, and Shirley, at home; seven grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Lupfer and Willis E. of the city and Ralph I. of Eau Gallie, Fla., and two step-sisters, Mrs. Maude O'Neil and Mrs. Verna Stryker of Hollidaysburg.

BRUBAKER---Services for Thomas E. Brubaker of 2930 Spruce Ave.,
will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the John P. Lafferty Funeral Home bythe Rev. John L. Barnes.
Interment in Alto Reste Burial Park.
