Edmund received his education in the Edgewood and Hopkinton area schools. He later chose farming as his life's work. Edmund was inducted into the United States Army on 7 Jul 1942. He served in the 637 Tank Destroyer BN, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. After his discharge in February of 1946, he returned to the Hopkinton area, where he farmed with his brother, Raymond. Edmund was a member of Saint Luke's Catholic Church, where he was a Captain of the Ushers and a member of the Ambrose Society.
