David O. Snyder was the son of Ezra J. Snyder (1813-1888) and Sarah Ann Staubs Snyder (1814-1889). David O., who with two sisters resided in the old Putman house. David O. worked the farm and engaged extensively in the raising of sheep. He was single, and for twenty-five years taught school. David O was a great church man and Sunday school worker. It was a bad day, indeed, that kept him from church twice on Sunday. As a rule he was there three times often driving to the country churches 15 or 20 miles before and between services. He was known in many parts of Maryland in this work, and there seldom was a Sunday School Institute that did not request him to help them.
