LAURA VIVIAN DEVEREAUX, age 91, of South Lyon, passed away, May 22, 2010. She was born on April 10, 1919 in Ann Arbor to the late Robert and Laura (Ehnis) Golden. She married John Devereaux on June 3, 1939 who preceded her in death. Vivian leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Robert (Deborah) Devereaux and Marilyn (Stephen) Harrington, her grandchildren, Paul (Sarah Walsh) Devereaux and Robert Nathan Devereaux. She is also survived by, her nephews, Mark Golden and Alvan Golden Jr., her niece Mary (Ken) Culp, her niece-in-law Phyllis (frank) Havelka and her nephews-in-law Tom (Dorothy), David (Pat) and Peter Anda.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers Alvan Golden Sr. And Robert Golden.
Vivian lived a long and full life. She worked hard as a mother and dairy farmer's wife. In later years she went to work for the University of Michigan Hopsital as a Medical Records Clerk. Vivian was most proud of her husband's octagon house which she lived in until her death. The "Nathan B. Devereaux Octagon House" was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 2, 2003.
A special thank you to Ethel Cunningham, Vivian's main caregiver for the past 6 years. A thank you also to Dr. M. Skalski and his medical assistant Linda Connolly for their exceptional medical care.
Vivian was a wonderful mother, mentor and friend to Robert and Marilyn and they thank God for the 91 years they had with her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. And Wednesday
From 2:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m.at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Lake St., South Lyon. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. At the First United Methodist Church of South Lyon, 640 S. Lafayette, South Lyon.
