Veteran Upper Canada Rebellion. It is believed this was the source of his title Lieutenant Colonel. He was not a veteran of the Fenian Raids as stated in the obituary of his son-in-law Samuel Rabb. John Blakely died 13 years before the first Fenian Raids in Canada.
