Deacon John Baker, s. of Samuel Baker and Fear Robinson, b. Oct. 15, 1672 at Hull, Mass. He was the grandson of the immigrant Isaac Robinson, and gr. grandson of Rev. John Robinson (1576-1625), pastor of the core 1620 Mayflower Pilgrims at Leiden, Holland.
On Oct. 14, 1696 at Barnstable, Mass., John m. Anna Annable (q.v.), dau. of Samuel Annable and Mehitable Allyn (q.v. Allen, dau. of Thomas and his 2nd wife, the widow Winifred Crawford), b. Mar. 4, 1675/6 at Barnstable, Mass. and d. there Mar. 21, 1732/3. While an extended bio will be added latter, they had the following ten children all b. of record at Barnstable, Mass.:

Apr. 6, 1718 at Barnstable and d. July 26, 1793 at Windham, Conn. Her mother was the granddau. of John Howland of the 1620 Mayflower passage.
• vi. Mary Baker, b. Mar. 25, 1710; m. on or soon after Oct. 20, 1733 (intention filed at Barnstable), Lemuel Hedge of Yarmouth, Mass., s. of Samuel Hedge and Grace Snow. He was b. Mar. 4, 1709/10 at Eastham, Mass. They have not been traced further.

Jan. 20, 1707/8 at Falmouth, Mass. and d. Oct. 28, 1752 at Tolland, Conn. Eight children of the family. Mar. 23, 1814 at Windham, Æ 89, her "Ætatis" age at death complimentary to the date of birth of the aforementioned "Mary" Cary. Eleven children of the family.

As a widower, Dea. John Baker relocated with two of his sons from Barnstable to Windham, Conn. in 1743. As noted, several of his daus. m. at Barnstable then also relocated to Conn. Dea. Baker probably d. at the eastern part of Windham now the separate Town of Scotland, Conn. His gravestone is in the "old" north section of the Scotland Cemetery at the northeast corner of Devotion and Cemetery Roads.
The modern gravestone shown containing his name and that of his two sons, Samuel and John, and Samuel and John's namesake sons, is also located at the "old" Scotland Cemetery as a modern cenotaph due to missing or unreadable family gravestones.
