George C. Shackelfor was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 18, 1936, and passed away at Three Rivers Community Hospital on April 21, 2010.

George was my dad. Many Knew him As "Curt" for most of his life. My dad served his country in the Army. He was medically discharged from the Army due to Blown ear drums from running over a land mine. After the Army, he became a truck driver. He drove trucks for 55 years.

After he retired, he did many little businesses. He owned a sports card shop, and he loved to open the cads more than he did selling them.

My Dad was admitted to the hospital due to what they thought might be the beginning of pneumonia. Later, they said it was a cold in the chest. On the day he was to go home the Dr. found him in his room unconscious. They say they do not know how he got this way. They never called my mom and let her know they were moving him to ICU. From the time the Dr found him to the time my mom got there to pick my dad up He had been in the ICU for six hours. The story then changed again that he overdosed himself on medication, which I know would not be true because my dad HATED to take medication. So we called them on that one, and the only medication he had in his possession was his diabetic meds. That they told my mom to bring. Then they told us that night that he was in Reinal Failure. They waited 12 hours to tell us this. Anyhow, he was having trouble breathing, so they said they were going to put a tube in for him to breathe. they did not tell my mom it was going to be life support. in the process of putting this in my dad coded. The Dr. said he felt bad and wanted to continue with putting in the tube. When all was said and done with the tube, they told us he was without oxygen for 5 minutes in actuality, it was 8 minutes. I knew from that point on, my dad was not coming home from the hospital. On the 2 st of April they said things were getting worse, and we as a family decided to turn the machines off. On his death certificate, they put brain injury. At this point, we are having a lawyer look at all the medical records. Nothing happened with the lawyer.

I know he is up there looking out for His family.

Dad, I love and miss you a lot.
