Son of William and Isabel (Zimmerman) Willard.
Grew up in Kearney, attended Kearney High School, participated in many sports.
Called to preach the Gospel, he pastored his first church in Ravenna, Neb., 1935; was ordained as a minister by the Open Bible Standard Churches, 1940.
Married: Sept. 9, 1941, to Dona Beck near Custer. She preceded him in death.
Pastored Open Bible churches in Bradford, Pa., Pierre, S.D., and Mansfield, Ohio; in Pierre, they hosted a popular daily radio program.
Served as chaplain for the South Dakota Legislature for two years.
Between pastorates, traveled as evangelists throughout the western half of the United States; relocated to Mesa, 1984, after having spent 65 years in the ministry.
Survivors include: sons, Bill of Arizona and Jon of Mansfield, Ohio; daughters, Jean TerMeer of Arizona and Michelene of California; and sister, Hazel Gray of Nevada; also daughter-in-law, Mary of Mansfield; son-in-law, Paul TerMeer of Arizona; and grandson, Zachary of Mansfield.
Was preceded in death by his wife and son, Michael.
