PVT, Co G, 2nd US Cav....Spanish American War, enl 9 May 1898 at St Louis MO, discharged 24 Jan 1899 at Huntsville AL w/remarks: "PVT, Very Good". Eyes: Grey, Hair: Brn, Complexion: Dark, Height: 5'4".

Robert was the only child of Ann Ralston and Alexander Franklin "FRANK" James, and nephew of "JESSE" Woodson James. Born in Nashville TN under the alias Robert Woodson. His father was living there as Benjamin Woodson, while his uncle Jesse posed as Thomas Howard.

Married twice, but had no children...after the 1944 death of his mother Annie, he oversaw operation of the "James Farm" in Liberty MO, until his death there in 1959.
