Richard Kane, one of our best known citizens and former rural mail carrier, died at his home on West Main street, this city, on Sunday night, Dec. 9th, 1923, after a long illness from old age, in the 82nd year of his age. His wife, who was Miss Ellen Yingling, died some years ago. He is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Rex Anders and Miss Margaret Kane, this city; Mrs. Albert Morelock, near this city; and Harry and William, at home; one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Doyle, of Baltimore, and a number of relatives and grandchildren. The funeral took place Wednesday morning with services at the house at 10:30 o'clock. The Rev. J.W. Reinecke, pastor of Krider's Reformed Church and J.B. Rupley, of Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. The funeral was largely attended and the floral tributes were many and beautiful. Interment in Krider's Cemetery, near this city. The pallbearers were: John T. Royer, Charles Himler, N.S. Hill, Jno. M. Baile, Harry Young, and George R. Grumbine. James M. Stoner, funeral director.
