He was born Jan. 28, 1930 in Smicksburg to Fulbert and Leona (Gearhart) Alabran.
Mr. Alabran was a hook-on at the former Greenville Steel Car Co., Greenville for 40 years retiring in 1988.
An Army veteran, he served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1953.
He was a member of the New Apostolic Church, Greenville.
An avid recycler, he also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching Western movies.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Anna Mae (Craig) Alabran, whom he married Oct. 5, 1957 in Kennard Methodist Church; four sons, Walter Alabran Jr. of Salem, Va., Wil-lard Alabran of Hadley, Randy Alabran of Linesville and Larry Alabran of Roanoke, Va.; two daughters, Linda Mincer of Greenville and April Alabran of Hadley; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Raymond, John, Fulbert and Tom Alabran, all of Greenville and Richard Alabran of Cochranton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Evan Williams.
ALABRAN - Friends of Walter F. Alabran Sr., 72, of 452 Beatty School Road, Hadley, who died May 24, 2002, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home, 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville. Fu-neral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the New Apostolic Church, Greenville, with his pastor, the Rev. Larry D. LeMar, officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 3168 E.
