Funeral services for Mrs. Harriett Leona Allison, age 93 years, of 602 Browning Street, Clarendon, were held in the First Baptist Church Wednesday, July 8, at 3:00 p.m.with Rev. W.R. Lawrence, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. J.B. Stewart, First Methodist Church, McLean. Interment was in the citizens Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Carl Naylor, Alfred McMurtry, Joe Bawnds, Bob Hay, James Bain and Van Kennedy.
Mrs. Allison, daughter of J.F. and Elizabeth Gaston Read, was born March 19, 1871, at Gilmer, Texas. She moved to Donley County in 1906 from Amarillo, Texas. She was married to John Lee Allison December 10, 1899, at Boyd, Wise County, Texas. Mr. Allison died in Clarendon on February 24, 1925.
Mrs. Allison was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She passed away Tuesday July 7, at 8:00 a.m. in the Adair Hospital after an illness of two months.
Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Naomi Allison Jay of Clarendon; two sons, Clifford Allison of McLean, and Glenn Allison of Midland, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
