John Batson Dies Saturday At Lelia Lake

Funeral services for John Rice Batson, 66, who died Saturday at his home at Lelia Lake, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Clarendon Church of Christ with Robert C. Jones, minister, officiating.

Interment was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.

Mr. Batson was born May 14, 1897, in Louise, Tenn. He moved to Donley County in 1903.

He married Wilma King on Dec. 24, 1932, in Clarendon.

Mr. Batson, a veteran of World War I, was a member of the Clarendon Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wilma Batson; nine sisters, Mrs. Sam Roberts, Mrs. Quinn Aten, both of Lelia Lake; Mrs. D.E. Leathers of Clarendon, Mrs. Gus Rasco of Amarillo, Mrs. David Hudgins of Lakeview, Mrs. Solon Messer of Fort Worth and Mrs. Bob Roberts, Mrs. Brice Webster and Mrs. Allie Caviness, all of Memphis.
