Ichabod COX (1769-1861) was born in Halifax Co., NC, the son of Cary COX, Sr. (abt. 1736-1814) and Mary HORNE-COX (d. 1823).

His first wife was Mary "Polly" ROWAN of Scotland. They were married in 1792.

They had the following children:
Nancy, Cynthia, Mary, James Rowan, Lemuel, Malinda, William M., Temperance, Cary S., Tabitha, and Mariah.

His first wife died 1846 in Talbot Co., GA.

He married Mrs. Nancy D. FULLER in Talbot Co., GA 15 Aug. 1850.

The book, "History of Stewart County Georgia Volume II" by Dixon, Clark and Clark, page 740, says that,"He was a wealthy, prosperous planter, owning a large plantation, many slaves and other property. He was one of the organizers of Beulah Baptist Church, coming as a deacon from his former home."

Other locations he lived, before Talbot Co., Ga include:
Edgefield Co., SC; Warren Co., GA; and Jones Co., GA.

In Memory of ICHABOD COX Born June 19, 1769. Died Oct. 26, 1861. He was a member of the Baptist Church 74 years, and a Deacon of the same 53 Years.
