The book, "History of Stewart County Georgia Volume II" by Dixon, Clark and Clark, page 740, says that,"He was a wealthy, prosperous planter, owning a large plantation, many slaves and other property. He was one of the organizers of Beulah Baptist Church, coming as a deacon from his former home."

In Memory of ICHABOD COX Born June 19, 1769. Died Oct. 26, 1861. He was a member of the Baptist Church 74 years, and a Deacon of the same 53 Years.
