Rufus Allgood
Dies in Hospital


Rufus Allgood, 78, 612 South Walker, died at 8:45 a.m. today in the Bloomington Hospital where he had been admitted on Sunday. Death was due to complications.

Funeral services will be held at the Allen chapel where the remains will lie in state. Rev. Howard Anderson will officiate at the last rites set for Thursday at 3: p.m. (DST). Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

A native of Washington county, Mr. Allgood was born there on July 9, 1870 to Edmond and Mary Adams Allgood. He came to Bloomington 55 years ago and was last employed as a clerk by Lester Hendrix.

Survivors include the wife, Adaline; two brothers, John and Charles of Bloomington; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Chase of Bloomington and Mrs. Horace Stiller, Crawfordsville; two foster sons, Fred Wilson, Muncie and Merle Wampler, San Diego, California.

Plan Rites for
Rufus Allgood


Pallbearers who will service at the last rites for Rufus Allgood, who died Monday at the Bloomington Hospital, were announced today by the Allen Funeral Home.

They are Lester Hendrix, Raymond and James Frazo, Robert W. Chambers, Fred Farlee, and Richard Davis.

Mrs. Florence Von Pilsen will present organ numbers and a quartet in charge of Arthur Livingston will sing.

Rev. E. Howard Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Until the hour of services, the remains will lie in state at the Allen mortuary.
