CUTLER - Carroll G. Ackley went to join his beloved wife, Elsie (Buse) Ackley, who passed away 15 years prior to his death, on Sept. 19, 1995.
He was born at Cutler, Sept. 9, 1909, the son of E. Allen and Annie (Davis) Ackley. Carroll was a graduate of Washington Academy and a veteran of World War II. He also was employed in the insurance business for more than 42 years, retiring from Fireman's Fund Insurance of Newark, N.J., nearly 25 years ago. He was proud of his heritage and ancestry rooted in Cutler, Maine since pre-revolutionary war times. In his own words..."I would like to believe the root stock of our family will also be replenished in the centuries to come, and that Nathan, Ezra and Alien and the mothers, wives and children of each still wander the fields, getting wet from the dew, picking wild strawberries and cursing the fog a little now and then. If they are out there, so also shall I walk the fields and curse the fog, smile happily when the sun shines and when the fields, are greening after the hay has been gathered." He will, always be remembered as a gentleman, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and soon to be great,great-grandfather. He is survived by three daughters, Carol Lynn Molinski and husband, George C. of Cutler, Sina Buse Molinski and husband, Kenneth M. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cynthia Ann Cotter and husband, John J. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Marguerite Graf of Downey, Calif.; a brother, Clayton Ackley and wife, Evangeline (Smith) of East Eddington; 10 grandchildren, nine great grand children, many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
