He was born on August 31, 1937 in the township of Hutchins, the son of the late Stephen W. and Helen M. (Johnson) Blodgett.
On March 26, 1959 he was united in marriage to Eva Maus in Baumholder, Germany. She survives.
Maynard retired from the US Army, after serving 20 years. He and Eva then moved back to Mattoon, where he worked at All Car in Antigo for 23 years, was a volunteer fireman for 32 years with the Mattoon Fire Department and was a member of the John Owen American Legion Post #287, Mattoon. Maynard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Michelle (Kevin) Zeinert, Yvonne (Mark) Fuller, Maynard (Susan) Blodgett, Jr., all of Mattoon and Duane Blodgett, Birnamwood; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas (Vickie), Ashley (Jason), Shantelle (Matt), Denise (Nick), Jessica (Mark), Erik (Kalynn), Rachel, Ryan, Bailey, Jakob, Samantha, and 10 great-grandchildren, Dominic, Savannah, Adriana, Devin, Braydon, Caitlyn, Aaralyn, Kaley, Takao and Anna. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise and one brother, Duane.
