Eva M. Brown Battle Creek Eva Belle McBride Brown died May 22, 2010, two weeks short of her 102nd birthday. She was born on June 5, 1908, to Robert and Emma (Secord) McBride at DeWard, MI. Eva grew up in East Jordan and attended Western Michigan Teachers College, Kalamazoo, where she met her eventual husband Kenneth G. Brown. She taught elementary school in Jackson, Coldwater and Harper Creek. Eva and Kenneth raised their four sons in Charlotte and Coldwater. She and Kenneth moved to Battle Creek in 1958 and retired from Harper Creek schools in 1970. Eva was an avid bridge player, reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles; later played a lot of Rummikub with friends at the NorthPointe Woods senior community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1975, son, Lynn in 2003, and a granddaughter Cheryl in 2009. She is survived by sons, Robert (Carol) of Kenneth Square, PA; Daniel (Arlene) of DeWitt and Jerry (Ruth Anne) of Battle Creek, daughter-in-law Joyce of Lansing, 12 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Eva has donated her body to the Anatomical Donation Program at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Eva's ashes will be interred along with Kenneth's in the U-M burial plot near Ann Arbor. A memorial service will be held at the time of interment.
