"John R. Tomson, 91, prominent Shawnee County farmer and Stockman for many years, died Sunday in the Karnes Rest Home after a long illness. Mr. Tomson was born October 3, 1867, near Dover and spent most of his life on a farm in that vicinity. He was well known as a breeder of Shorthorn cattle. He was a charter member of the Dover Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by two brothers James G. Tomson, Wakarusa, and Joe Tomson of Dover. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dover Federated Church with burial in Dover cemetery. Austin Funeral Home had charge of arrangements."
