Funeral services for Daniel B. Dawkins were held from the home in Parkersburg Thursday afternoon at one o'clock and the body was brought to the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville for burial. Mr. Dawkins died at his home the previous Tuesday night at the age of 80 years following a long illness. A native of Wood County, Mr. Dawkins spent most of his life at Sandyville where he was in the mercantile and lumber business. He returned to Wood County 20 years ago. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Dawkins; six sons, Delbert B. and E. B. Dawkins of Parkersburg, and Phillip D., William, Joseph M. and Max Dawkins, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Baker of Ravenswood and Mrs. F. L. Abels of Parkersburg; three brothers, John of Parkersburg, Albert of Akron, Ohio and Bush of Lowell, Ohio; two half-brothers, J. E. Sweesey of Sandyville and Monroe Sweesey of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. [​from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection​]
