Ashley Nichole Fliger, 14, of Independence, Mo., died October 26, 2009. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at D.W. Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, Independence. Visitation 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Ashley was a freshman at Truman High School. She was an artist who loved to draw and loved music of every kind, but Ashley's first love was Science. Ashley is survived by her mother, Karla of the home, her grandmothers, Shirley Weinand of Troy, Mo. and Mary Fliger of Sunrise Beach, Mo., aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

I always enjoyed the time I spent with this delightful child. She was wise beyond her years in many ways and had such amazing artistic talents even when she was quite young. I will be forever thankful for the joy she brought into my brother's life and all the others whose lives she touched.
