Lt. Edwin Winter, 24;
Killed in Cambodia-

First Lieutenant Edwin Thomas Winter (Tom), twenty-four, of 2814 Glenwood Park Ave., was killed in action in Cambodia on June 10.
He was born in Erie, the son of Edwin A. and Delpha Gates Winter.
Lt. Winter was graduated from Academy High School in 1963 and he had been a trumpet player in the school band. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Gannon College in 1968.
At the time of graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and he entered the Army in November of 1968. He was sent to Viet Nam one year later and in December of 1969 he received his commission a First Lieutenant.
On August 9, 1969, he married Denise White of Meadville.
He was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church and active in its Sunday School and athletic program. Also, he was a member of the Rogers Israel Post No. 711 Drum and Bugle Corps and the Erepa Grotto Drum and Bugle Corps.
Lt Winter was recently in command of the 25th Division's Alfa (sic) Troop, 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry, when they discovered a big arms cache six miles inside Cambodia.
Besides his wife, survivors include his parents, one sister, Mrs. George (Edith) McLanahan; one brother, Ernest Winter, both of Erie; and five nieces and five nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John C. Melzer Funeral Home, 536 West 10th St., Sunday and Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend funeral services Tuesday at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Clair O. Dufford and the Rev. David R. Schweingruber, pastors of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
