He married Janet Keith of Ellendale, North Dakota in 1931. They had four children. Mary Ann, Janet Lee, Daisy, and Ted, Jr. He and Janet farmed the Wirch Homestead in Wirch, North Dakota until 1964 when they moved to Bend, OR. Ted was extremely handy and loved to salvage materials and build useful items at a low cost. He loved to play practical jokes on people.
