The Funeral Of James L. "Jim" Turpin, 37, of 104 E. Wood St., Bloomington, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Philip D. Queen officiating. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the memorial home. He died at 2:33 p.m. Sunday (March 24, 1996) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Memorials may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. South, 17th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10016.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Turpin, Bloomington; his father, "Jack" Turpin, Nashville, Ill.; his paternal grandmother, Julia G. Turpin, Cherokee Village, Ark.; one daughter, Ashley Michelle Turpin, Bloomington; and one brother, Thomas Turpin, Makanda.
Also surviving are two nephews, Jacob and Mathew Turpin, both of Gridley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.
Mr. Turpin was born Aug. 25, 1958, in Akron, Ohio, a son of John L. "Jack" and Joyce Burnham Turpin. He married Robin McMurray June 11, 1988, in Bloomington.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A self-employed carpenter in the Bloomington area, he was very active with the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees.
Mr. Turpin moved to Bloomington at 1 year of age and has lived here since then. He graduated from Normal Community High School in 1976.
