She attended Tyler Jr. College, graduating top of her class. She worked at TXDOT, was a preschool teacher, and managed a bookstore. She cared deeply about children and animals and was a adoring "Ginny" to her grandchildren. She married Don Rankin in Dallas on April 17, 1970.
