Melvin Luther Faggart, age 81, died at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Sunday, November 22, 2009. He was born on March 23, 1928 to the late Albert Sidney Faggart and Fannie Elizabeth Eudy Faggart, he became a service technician for Hatley's Firestone Inc.. A U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Albemarle DAV, AmVets, VFW, Mason Scottish Rite, Shriner and Order of Trench Rats. The family meeting place is at the home of Susan Bailey, daughter, 941 McArthur Rd., Albemarle, NC. Military Honors will be performed by DAV Chapter 12 and The Patriot Guard will also serve the family. He was a member of the West Albemarle Baptist Church. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 24 at 6:00-8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle. A service will take place on Wednesday, November 25 at 11:00 AM at West Albemarle Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Hatley officiating. Internment will be at Fairview Memorial Park. He is survived by his daughter Susan Faggart Bailey and husband Steve, Albemarle. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Mark Steven Bailey and wife Alicia and April Elizabeth Bailey and great grandchildren Landon Bailey, Kathryn Underwood and Andrew Underwood. He is preceded in death by his wife Doris Elizabeth Byrd Faggart, brothers Clarence Faggett and Albert Faggart, sisters Camilla Morris, Louise Efird and Ann Walker.
