Claudia Elenor Florence Barbero, (nee Cozzi), of Chicago, beloved wife of the late Charles P. Barbero, whom she married on August 24, 1946, the mother of Peter and Margaret (John) Smith and grandmother of Jennifer, Michael and Kelly Smith, passed away January 10, 2007. One of 12 children, she was born October 21, 1915, to Angelo Michael and Maria Antonia (nee Federici) Cozzi of Senerchia, Italy. She was the dear sister of Ester Staron, Virginia Newman, and Abraham ("Bud") Cozzi. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. Frederica ("Frederick"), Euphrates ("Francis") Rivers, Ermenegilda ("Minny") Smith, Adelaide Samek, David, Julius, a twin who died at birth and a still born sibling, her in-laws, Giacomo ("James") and Caroline (Meriggi) Barbero, Margaret, Peter and Frank (the late Julia) Barbero, Madeline (the late Charles) Alessio, Frank (Jenny) Isacco, Robert (Kathryn) Jago, John (Mary) Powers and niece, Christina Isacco English. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and great-grand-nieces and nephews. Claudia received her B.S. in Education from Chicago Teacher's College and her Masters in Education from Roosevelt Univeristy. She taught mathematics for the Chicago Public Schools (James Monroe School) from 1961 - 1984. Past Board Member of Chicago Teacher's Union. She was also an Office Nurse for Dr. Nathan Crohn. She served as President for the Chicago Teacher's Math Club and was a member of the National Council of Teacher's of Mathematics. She enjoyed writing poetry and children books. Visitation Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m., Funeral Prayers Friday, 9:30 a.m., at Kolbus-John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., in Chicago. Procession to St. Monica for 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment All Saints Cemetery. For info: 773-774-3232
