MRS. LEVI PAULUS
Mrs. Mary Magdalene Paulus, 76, wife of Levi Paulus, died Saturday afternoon at one o'clock at her home six miles northeast of Wakarusa, after an illness of a year with complications.

She was born in Olive township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shaum and was married on August 13, 1874, to Levi Paulus.

Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Miss Hattie Paulus, at home; two sons, Arthur and Ralph Paulus, both of near Wakarusa; five grandchildren, two foster-grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Shaum, of Elkhart; and two sisters, Mrs. Nathan James and Miss Mary Ann Shaum of Jamestown.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock at the home and at two o'clock at the Olive church, five miles north of Wakarusa. The Rev. Christ Metzler and the Rev. David Yoder officiated.

Paulus. - Mary Magdalena Shaum, daughter of Jacob and Mary Shaum, was born Dec. 6, 1852; died Jan. 12, 1929; aged 76 y. 1 m. 6 d. On Aug. 13, 1874, she was united in marriage to Levi Paulus. To this union were born 4 children (Hattie N., Arthur L., Nelson V., who died at the age of 16, and Ralph L). She also leaves 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 foster grandchildren, 2 sisters (Sarah Ann Shaum and Mrs. Nathan James), and one brother (Daniel Shaum).

In the early years of her married life she united with the Baugo Church of the Brethren. The greater part of the last year of her life she had not been in good health and gradual decline brought on her decease.

Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. D. A. Yoder and at the Olive church by C. Metzler of the Brethren Church.
