Richard Lee "Rick" Wilcher Sr., 63, of Stanford, Lincoln, Kentucky., formerly of Morristown, Shelby, Indiana. died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1947, in New Salem, Lincoln, Kentucky., and was the son of Matt Wilcher Jr. and Lena Gertrude Estes Wilcher Brown. He married Agnes Ervine Short on Sept. 23, 1986, in Morristown, Shelby, Indiana and she survives.

Survivors include his son, Richard L. (Missy) Wilcher Jr. of Greenfield, Hancock, Indiana; two daughters Bonnie S Guzman, also of Greenfield and Kellie D (J-r) Fannin of Oaklandon, Indiana; three step children, Ralph David (Jamie) Short of Fountaintown, Shelby, Indiana and Joseph A. (Stacey) Short of Chandler, Ariz.; Tracey L. Short-Rindahl (Darren), also of Greenfield,Indiana; brothers, Bobby Brown of McKinney, Kentucky., and Mike Wilcher of Greenwood, Indiana; sisters, Kay Luster of New Salem, Ky., Kathy Gibson of Geneva, Ky., Emily Taylor of Chickamaugua, Georgia. and Leann LaFollette of Greenfield, Indiana; grandchildren Andrew, Tyler, Shelby, Dominique, Dylan, Xander, Mya, Gavin and Graham: 11 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews; and best friend Terry Smith of Morristown, In..

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Charles Brown and a brother, Marshall "Ray" Brown, who passed away on Dec. 25, 2009.

He had worked for the town of Morristown in several capacities as Water/Wastewater Super. and Deputy Town Marshall. He worked as an over the road truck driver for many years, He worked driving for Kroger and stocking stores until his health would not permit it. He worked many years at the Indianapolis 500 track in safety as a yellow shirt. He moved back to Stanford, Ky. in Oct. 2004. and had been employed at the Stanford Wal-Mart for the past five years as a door greeter.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenfield, Indiana and Masonic Lodge No. 192 in Morristown.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford, Kentuckyy on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. His services will be at 1 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W. U.S. Highway 40 in Greenfield, Indiana., with visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to his services on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Burial will follow in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, Shelby, Indiana.
