NO DOCTOR CORONER CALLED,
A "Holy Roller," Mrs. Abner May Dies Without Medical Attention.
Because Mary Jane May, aged 70, died of pneumonia after a week's illness, and trusted to treating by faith rather than the services of a doctor, Coroner Mosier was called by some of the neighbors of the home in Salt Creek township Friday afternoon, and held an investigation. Down in that section of the south east part of the county a religious sect known as the Holy Rollers, have held numerous revivals and now have quite a following, one of whom was Mrs. May, one important part of their creed is that they believe in the power of healing, and for this reason the old woman refused to allow a doctor to enter the house. She was sick six days when death resulted, and as there was not a doctor to sign the death certificate as the law provides, Coroner Mosier was called. The husband, Abner, aged 80. is also very sick with pneumonia, and Coroner Mosier insisted upon a physician being called so some one could issue the proper papers when death occurs, which is only a question of a few days.
