She was born December 12, 1874, in Goodland, Indiana, the daughter of Isaac S. and Flora (Waterman) Atkins. She was married to Dwayne B. Mereness on October 8, 1902, at Worcester. She was a graduate of Worcester Union School and Oneonta Normal School. She taught at Mount Morris in Coxsackie and was preceptress of the Worcester Union School in 1902 ... Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Frederick F. Scofield of Worcester; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and one nephew. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Friday from the Skinner Funeral Home in Worcester ... Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester."
