Rose Silbernagel, 88, Linton, ND, died Monday, May 24, 2010 in a Bismarck Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 5 p. m. at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour Friday at the church before the service.

Rose was born August 5, 1921 on a farm west of Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Anton and Agatha (Welk) Ternes. She attended country school. Rose married Peter J. Silbernagel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Krassna on May 10, 1943. In 1946, they bought a farm northwest of Linton. In 1951, they moved into Linton and owned and operated Hillside Grocery until 1954, and continued farming until retiring and Peter's death in 2006. Rose enjoyed reading, visiting family and friends, playing cards, and cooking. She was a leader of Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts and 4-H, she taught CCD and was a North Dakota Merit Mother in 1990 and 1991. Rose was a member of Christian Mothers, Linton American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, AlAnon, Homemakers Group, ND Republic Woman, Red Hat Society, Emmons County Historical Society, and an interdenominational mission group.

Rose is survived by nine sons and three daughters-in-law: Peter and Cathy Silbernagel of Casselton, ND, Paul and Barb Silbernagel of Bismarck, ND, Urban Silbernagel of Mandan, ND, Dennis Silbernagel of Billings, MT, Gilbert Silbernagel of Modesto, CA, Dave and Janette Silbernagel of Boise, ID, Lyle Silbernagel of Austin, TX, Martin Silbernagel of Council Bluffs, IA and Tom Silbernagel of Neillsville, WI; six daughters and five sons-in-law: Angeline and Jack Bushy of Daytona, FL, Donna and Frank Bosch of Kalispell, MT, Alice and Vic Carufel of Bismarck, ND, Carol and Robert Fink of Roseville, CA, Adella and Bruce Poppke of Evanston, WY and Mary Banek of Austin, TX; 28 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Edwin Ternes of Westfield, ND and Oscar and Isabel Ternes of Strasburg, ND; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lydia Roehrich of Strasburg, ND, Annie and Don Beauchamp of Grass Valley, CA and Selma and Marcel Beauchamp of Indio, CA as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete, in 2006 and a daughter-in-law: Laura Silbernagel.
