Helen Marguerite Nunes, 83, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Dec. 7, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born May 6, 1916, in Placer, a daughter of Frank and Elmetta (Rogers) Capp.

On February 16, 1931, she married James H. Nunes, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Rogue Valley 56 years ago from Hornbrook, Calif.

Mrs. Nunes and her husband owned and operated Nunes Sand and Gravel Company.

She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, reading, and traveling to Reno.

Survivors include three daughters, Pat Kerr, Eagle Point; Sharon Hawk, Central Point; and Susan Nunes, Reno, Nev.; three sons, Rob, caregiver, Central Point; Dave, Phoenix; and Gary, Stockton, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, James; and 12 brothers and sisters.
