Verlie Kimbrell was born December 14, 1896 to Riley and Jane Kimbrell. She weighed about 1 1/2 pounds. Her mother told her that she was so tiny, they had to put her on a. pillow at night between them, so they wouldn't lose her.
When Verlie was a baby, she and her family lived in a log house where Leon Redman's house now stands. They had a big oak tree in the front yard. Verlie had asthma, but people called it Tisic. Someone told her parents to stand Verlie in front of the tree and drill a hole in the tree at the top of Verlie's head. They said to put a lock of Verlie's hair in the hole in the tree, and when she outgrew the hole in the tree, she wouldn't have Tisic anymore ... and she didn't.
She married Dewitt Norman, 14 Jun 1925 at Leslie, Arkansas.
