WALLA WALLA - Otto Russell Green, 93, of Milton-Freewater died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 4 at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater.

Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 3 at the funeral home. Private interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.

Mr. Green was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Red House, W.V., to Thomas Robert and Bertha May Honaker Green. The family moved to Ohio in 1920. In 1926 his family moved to Pasco, Wash., where his father worked as a mail carrier. He attended Longfellow School.

In 1927 he went to work on the Bernard Reinken dairy farm and delivered milk in Pasco. He worked at the dairy until 1933. In 1936 he married Agnes Hansen in Kennewick, Wash.

He also worked in the Tri-City area and Central Washington picking hops, did construction work at Umatilla Army Depot, cut asparagus and worked on a mint farm and a wheat ranch. He also worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Babcock Oil Company. In 1944 he moved his family to Umapine and began working for the Otto Hellberg ranch; he remained there until he broke his hip in May 2009. He then went to live with his daughter Shirley after his rehabilitation.

Mr. Green is survived by daughters Shirley Brosh and Rena Baker, both of Milton-Freewater, and Loretta Donaldson of Walla Walla; son Russell Green of Milton-Freewater; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 1971; his parents; daughter Dorothy Nelson; granddaughter Patty Nelson; brothers Glenway, Scotty and Roscoe Green; sisters Mary Bozlee and Ara Weber; half-brother Sterling Green; and half-sister Gay Vonne Green McCollum.
