Cora was the second daughter of William H. and Mary (Rhodes) Woodmancy. As a young woman Cora spent time in Mansfield, Ohio; Covington, Kentucky; Meadville, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; and in Athens, Ohio. She was a milliner. After marriage, she and her husband lived in Columbus, Ohio.

She was "Auntie Miff" (as inscribed on her memorial) to her niece and nephews in Covington, children of her sister Cecelia Woodmancy Lawrence.
