Charles F. Axtell of Gainesville died May 5 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 92.
Mr. Axtell was a retired correctional officer.
He was born in Blue Rapids, Kan., and moved from Bridgewater, Mass., to Gainesville four years ago.
Mr. Axtell was a member of the Fellowship Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Bridgewater.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Axtell of Fairborn, Ohio; a daughter, Lincq Brothertoncq of Gainesville; two brothers, Donald Axtell of Leesburg and George Axtell of Fairhaven, Mass.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
