John Crisman Goudy, eldest son of William and Ann (Galloway) Goudy was born in Dalton, Wayne County, Ohio, September 7, 1825, and removed with his parents to Iowa in 1842. He was twice married: first, Nov. 18, 1848, to Amelia Christinia Jordan (Jardean?), a native of Germany, by whom he had seven children. She died March 30, 1862, and he married second, in February 1863, Lydia Ann Moffit of Scotch ancestry, who still survives. Mr Goudy was a farmer in Linn Grove, Iowa, where he died September 7, 1904.

His seven children were all born in Linn Grove, Iowa: (1) Ellen Augusta born February 5, 1850, (2) Emily Rachel born November 8, 1851, (3) William Orland born November 15, 1853, (4) Alice Ann born February 5, 1855, (5) Mary Elizabeth born March 9, 1858, (6) Frederick Austin born December 29, 1859, and (7) John Milo born October 18, 1861.

He enlisted in Company G, 8th Iowa Cavalry on 1 Aug 1863 from his residence in Anamosa, Jones County, IA and was discharged on 13 Aug 1865 at Macon, Bibb County, GA.
