Services for J. W. (Jim) Bevill, retired farmer and landowner were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. V. A. Alderman officiated, assisted by Rev. Curtis Ellis. Burial was in the church Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bevill died after a heart attack Wednesday morning while fighting a brush fire near his home in the Sand Hill community. He was a native of Holmes County and had lived here all his life. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Leminoye Tate Bevill: one daughter, Mrs. W. D. Truitt; a son, J. W. Bevill, Jr., Roseberg, Oregon; his mother, Mrs. Vicey Bevill; three sisters, Mrs. Jesse Grantham and Mrs. Dave Grantham, both of Lexington, Mrs. W. J. Upchurch of Ferriday, Louisiana; two brothers, J. S. Bevill and R. F. Bevill of Lexington and 13 grandchildren.
