Charles O. Pumphery 83, of Springfield died Friday at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Nov. 19, 1910, in Mechanicsburg, the son of Omer and Beatrice Sparrow Pumphery. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Margaret Moyer Pumphery and Norma Jean Mayberry Pumphery.
Mr. Pumphery retired from Sangamo Electric Co. in 1975. Survivors: four sons, Fred and Jerry, both of California, Ken of Rockford and Mike of Springfield; six daughters, Mary Thoele of Rockford, Beverly Reside, Jane Yard, Cheryl Jarrett and Theresa Lyons, all of Springfield, and Janet Higgenbotham of Arkansas; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park.
