Served in the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, later transferred to Camp Pendleton at Oceanside, California, and was honorably discharged at the end of the war

Beulah was a daughter of Lily Erma Horner and Bert Edward Pritchett. On April 6, 1947, she married Art Donnell at Ardmore, Falls River County, South Dakota. The couple raised three daughters and three sons.

Beulah attended Nebraska State Teacher's College, Black Hills Teacher's College, and Cottey College, and earned a diploma from the Chicago School of Interior Design. She taught at Indian Creek Country School, and worked as the Deputy County Superintendent of Schools. She worked tirelessly to bring art of every kind to the people of Fall River. She was a member of the Hot Springs Area Arts Council; president of Save Our Sandstone; president of the Southern Hills Arts Council; created and managed the Arts and Crafts Festival for 25 years; opened and managed Donnell's Mini Mall and Art Store for over 36 years. In recognition of her devoted to the arts, former Governor William J. Janklow proclaimed June 22-24, 2001, the dates of the Arts and Crafts Festival in Hot Springs, as Beulah Donnell Days, and awarded her the Governor's Award of the Arts.
