Funeral services for Alfred William "Bud" Baldocchi, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.
Born Feb. 27, 1921, in Des Plaines, he died Thursday, Sep. 26, 2002, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Mr. Baldocchi was a World War II Army veteran, having served with the 1st Artillery Battalion 808th "A" Battery attached to the 13th Corps. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge Ardennes Campaign. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years and after he retired, he worked for K & K Industries, with 14 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed woodworking. Al "Bud" Baldocchi loved and was loved by all whom he touched.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Kenneth) Gill, James A. Baldocchi and Annette (Joe) Messina; grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Smith, Autumn (Chris) Breen, Tyler Baldocchi, Tony Messina and Danny Messina; great-grandson, Christopher Patrick Breen; brother-in-law, Aaron Reiber; sister-in-law, Gloria (Joe) Baldocchi-Stevenson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Augusta Baldocchi; his loving wife, Ruth A. (nee Wesley) Baldocchi; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Adele Heidt, Violet Olsen and Eileen Reiber.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 2328 N. Mayfair Rd,, Ste. 502, Wauwatosa, WI 53226 are appreciated.
