Her husband was John (The signer) Hart, and was persecuted by the British. John Hart was at her bedside when she passed away however even in death they were separated because of the British, he is buried in the 1st Baptist in Hopewell.

She is the daughter of Richard Betts Scudder and Hannah Stillwell Reeder.

For your reading - "John Hart Signer" by Cleon E. Hammond it is a wonderful Biography on this great man.

From another member:
A number of years ago I helped a friend of mine establish her relationship to John Hart, The Signer. In that research my friend sent me pages from several books (unfortunately not sourced). A paragraph from one of them may be useful: "For a long time it was believed she [Deborah] was the youngest daughter of Richard Betts Scudder, Sr., but his will proven, March 19, 1754, shows she was a granddaughter. She was the daughter of Richard Betts Scudder, Jr., born in 1691[sic] and died in 1731. The name of her mother has never been found."
